Staff Positions

Junior Counselor

must be at least 16 by June 1st
Assist Unit Counselors and Activity Leaders with their daily duties.

Unit Counselor

must be at least 18 by June 1st
Oversee and care for a group of campers (campers will be grouped by grade level). Facilitate the daily schedule and participate in activities with campers.

Unit Leader

must be at least 21 by June 1st
Oversee and lead assigned camp group which usually includes a unit counselor and a support counselor.

Support Counselor

must be at least 18 by June 1st
Assist campers with special needs to become an integral part of the Camp Program. Necessary support allows the campers with special needs the opportunity to participate in all camp activities. Provide assistance with assigned camper’s personal care as needed. (Examples: assisting in bathroom; changing clothes; assisting with lunch; etc.).

Activity Instructor

must be at least 18 by June 1st
Instruct in specific program areas (sports, arts and crafts, music, nature, archery [needs accreditation], drama, etc.), to different age groups throughout the day. Create lesson plans and modify them to address different campers’ ages and abilities. Activity Instructors also fill the role of a Unit Counselor or a Unit Leader.

Life Guard / Swim Instructor

must be at least 18 by June 1st
Minimum Requirement: American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Certification or its equivalent. Responsible for overall safety on the waterfront area. Need strong swimming skills for lifeguards and swim instructor. Need working knowledge of all swim levels and teaching techniques.

Junior Life Guard

must be at least 16 by June 1st
Minimum Requirement: American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Certification or its equivalent. Responsible for overall safety on the waterfront area. Need strong swimming skills for lifeguards and swim instructor.

Life Guard / Boating Director

must be at least 20 by June 1st
Minimum Requirement: American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Certification or its equivalent, ARC Small Craft Safety Certification or CT Boating Certification. Need strong swimming skills for lifeguarding and strong boating instruction skills.

Registered Nurse

must be at least 18 by June 1st
Minimum Requirement: Must be a Registered Licensed Nurse in the State of CT with a current American Red Cross or American Heart Association Professional CPR Certification. Responsible for the health care of campers and staff, maintenance of medical records, supplies and dispensing of medications.

Custodial / Maintenance Staff

must be at least 18 by June 1st and have a valid CT driver's license
Minimum Requirement: Maintain a safe and clean environment in and around Camp MOE’s building structures.
